problems filling with fuel

Hi this might sound a bit weird but for some reason I cant get the fuel into my tank, it has a genuine very good condition filler neck but once you get about 12-13 quids worth in it the neck is full and wont take anymore, I have done many jobs to the car to get it back on the road and this is really annoying, as I felt things were really back on track. I did drop two small magnets into the tank after I had removed and flushed it to pick up any stray metal flakes from the old filler neck. All the pipes went back on ok and I have filled it a few times before this problem arose.

Any helpful suggestions would be great, thanks in advance. :dontknow:

Is the hose between the filler neck and the tank, kinked?

Are you sure its empty before you try refilling? The gauge might be vastly under reading?

I'd go with that too…

when it is telling you the tank is empty, take the cap off and rock the car back and forth. If the tank is only taking 10 to 12 quid, you should hear plenty of fuel sloshing about! Perhaps you bent the float arm on the sender unit if you have had it off?

I decided to take out the sender unit and test it, this I found to be ok and there was loads of fuel in the tank, I put the sender back in and added a second earth from the unit back to the cover screw and it works better now, it must mean my car is great on fuel as it took 14 quid after doing 150 miles!!!!! which I cant believe.
