so basicly all i need to do is cut my metal feed pipe shorter, add a bit of rubber pipe to fit a lift pump…. mine looks very similar to yours but ive got a metal feed pipe bending towards the bottem part of the tank…

does anyone know if i can buy the lift / sender unit itself???? basicly can i buy whats in the picture above??

seen the lift pumps on ebay for ?25 delivered so thats not a problem,

thanks alot fella.

Seen this link All classifieds in London - Gumtree on a post on here, maybe they can help or try searching the forum for someone breaking a late model with lift pump. Good luck

can anyone shine any light on this situation!

if i drill a hole in my original sender to pass a piece of flex through then seal up around it so its as it was without a hole… ish

i can then cut down my feed pipe for the carb and fit a lift pump, the flex will then be my feed for the lift pump and ill piggy back that off the main fuel pump feed (obviously fused down) therefore ill have a semi gti (homemade) supply system…  :banghead:

am i ok simply putting 12v into my tank???? im going to use insulated crimps and then heat shrink it onto the terminals of the lift pump…

how does the vw wiring sit on the pump?? anyone got any pics of the lift pumps terminals?? does it need a 12v feed or is it 12v and ground???  :dontknow:

any help is muchos appreciatedos :D

Your questions have been answered - there's a pic of the lift pump and it fits into the tank in the same way as your original sender or sender/tube. Buy the lift pump instead of trying to make your own…..

im buying the lift pump its the bit the lift pump attaches to thats the problem…………………..

ive got a carb fed model so dont have the same sender unit as an injection model!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL IM ASKING IS CAN I MODIFY MY SENDER UNIT BY FITTING THE FLEX THROUGH IT, AND WHAT TYPE OF CONNECTION DOES THE LIFT PUMP HAVE!

thanking you  :banghead:

Buy the whole thing, you can't modify your existing sender. The electrical terminals will be different, the sender probably different too, etc.

Hi Mate.

Give crazyquiff a ring and ask him for a sender unit and lift pump for a cabrio GTI. He offered me a complete unit for ?35.

I thought exactly the same as you about drilling holes for electreical feeds ect - in the end i figured i wouldn't feel safe if i bodged it myself.

Hope that helps mate.
