Pick up Pump

Having removed the sender and pick up pump from tank, because of poor performance and non starting, the filter on the bottom of the pump fell off into the tank, the sender was registering wrong and the tank was full to the brim, i am going to syphon tank and hopefully remove filter, but having looked at sender there is like a toffy covering over it were i suppose it has been laid up for a long time, and there are two rubber pipes one going from sender to pump, and one sender to tank i assume the return, both the pipes are in a poor condition and have seemed to have almost melted, i need to know the lenth of the pipes for refitting, and what would be the best thing to get this fuel crystalisation off of the sender perhaps with some contact cleaner it might work properly, obviously i cannot see filter to look at condition yet, as i am waiting for syphoner to arrive, does anyone know where i can get replacement filter.
