Petrol Leak Fuel filter

Hi,

I changed the fuel filter recently and noticed some weaping from the unions.
I think the fuel pump delivers the fuel to the filter at 15 bar.

So I replaced the washers with the inner rubber, the old ones were slightly perished and cracked. I think people should check for tiny leaks after the filter change with dry tissue paper .

I also think its a good idea to carry a fire extinguisher in the back of the car.

I have read in the posts of some golfs catching fire. Could it be that the fuel filter is so close to the battery? VW changed the location of the filter in the mk2.

Top tip: copper washers can be rejuvinated by heating them in the flame of a gas cooker (once removed from the car, of course). But eventually they'll need replacing….

That's a dowty seal for hydraulics, andlooking at the new one it's bigger than the old one.

They do 2 types metric and imperial, by getting them wrong you run a high risk of failure.

As advised I changed the washer with rubber seal to the correct size. Kept a close eye for leaks none so far after 300 miles. Cheers lads
