No Fuel in fuel filter

Hi

1.5/1.6 carb

I have not started my car for a year and went to take it for an MOT today and could not get it started.  I topped up the fuel, pumped up the tyres and put a charged battery in and it will not start.

As per the title I cranked it for 5+ minutes and got out and their is no fuel in the filter under the bonnet.  Wheres best to go from here and please explain what I need to do as im not hot on these things.  I gues it is part of the fuel pump system but not know where to start checking or how.

Further information in the past I have had issues with it stalling going up hills, but then re-starting after a minute.  Their is no rust in the filter and I was insured by the previous owner that when the fuel filler neck was dont the tank was swilled out.

Help its now summer and i have now missed the first show I was going to take it to.

Thanks
David

Have you removed the airbox and put some carb cleaner through the carb to help start it?
Just to make sure nothing has gummed up over the year standing, this usually helped with my old one.
