Need new Fuel tank and neck or clean it out?

recently if i drive even remotely hard the car chugs and loses power i think its starking itself of fuel and i think its because the fuel tank may have a load o crud in the bottom, im not sure if its the filler neck or the tank, should i replace the lot ( pricey) and im poor or clean the tank out. what other parts will i need all in all?

help on this would be much appreciated!

thanks

Brucie

pop both the feed & return lines off and blow down them, make sure neither are blocked.  if that all seems good try connecting the feed from the pump direct to the wwebber to bypass the vapour seperator, this seems to have helped a fair few people in the past :)

Obviously you want to be checking the filler neck for rust, and also its worth taking the level sender out of the fuel tank and shining a tourch in there to check for rustickes, and  also have a look at the level sender make sure thats not all crusty.  Assuming the carb has the feed/return pipes to the level sender not 100% sure either way?

that is a proper job but if you haven't got that kind of equipment available, do consider this.
All of the crap in the tank is rust particles from the filler neck so is therefore metal.
Get a good magnet on a stick and drop (rather lower than drop) it in through the sender unit hole and the particles will stick to the magnet like sh1t to a bed sheet.
Takes ages and it keeps sticking to the fuel tank but hey..!
Dont use a fag lighter or candle, use a torch or this may wreck the garage roof and the smell of burning hair takes ages to get rid of.
