MK1 GOLF running polo gt engine, running issues!!!
Hi, my mk1 golf c 1.1 has been converted to a 1.3 gt engine still with mpi ext.
the issue i am having is it practically stalls when cornering, feels just like running out of fuel but then bursts back to life one back on the straight, i didn't carry out the conversion myself nor the previous owner. my thoughts are that the problem lies with in the fueling it has a electric fuel pump fitted next to the tank.
But i am not sure what the fueling setup should be on this conversion my thoughts are to replace the pump all lines and filter (the ones linked below) let me know what you guys think or any advise would be appreciated.

sounds to me like you are having fuel starvation issues, you should fit an in-tank pump from a late cab/rocco or g40 shape polo, plus the plastic under-car fuel reservoir from the same car or some aftermarket fuel swirl pot with 4 connections on it.
either that or fit a mk1 tintop gti fuel tank with the internal swirl pot and outlet on the bottom

the lift pump can be had new from gsf, reservoir can be had from vw classic parts. level sender likely to be expensive new so best go to classifieds for that, I'd try heare, scirocco register and clubpolo. 2nd hand is ok for the pump and reservoir though providing they're from cars without tank rust issues!

the pump ther is for the lifter assembly in the tank, and is fine for this application, swirl pot is probably a bit big to fit under the car but if you can find somewhere to put it it'll be ok

no the in-tank pump isnt good enough for anything except a std carb, it cant supply enough fuel at pressure for injection. a polo gt/g40 pump or mk1 k-jet would do. or pretty much any aftermarket pump thats rated for at least 3 bar should do

yeh that pump is fine with your existing fuel tank, just need the rest of the assembly as its different to the non pump unit. i wouldnt buy the pump till you get the level sender/pump assembly as most likely the one you buy will have a pump on it already.
oh and the main pump you have already will probably be fine to keep, you just need the lift pump + swirl pot to keep it supplied with fuel to stop the fuel starvation on cornering.
the other solution is a tintop gti fuel tank with built in swirl pot, basically use whatever comes up first
