MK1 GOLF CUTS OUT ?????????????

HI GOLFERS
I AM NEW BUT OLD TO THIS I HAVE A MK1 ON A 86 PLATE WITH A PROBLEM I HAVE READ LOADS ABOUT ON THIS SITE SO I HAVE JOINED AND HOPE TO PICK ALL YOUR MINDS.
CAR STARTS EVERY TIME FIRST TIME
DRIVES WELL THEN CUTS OUT    STARTS UP AGAIN THEN DOES THE SAME THING IT WILL FLY UP TO 50MPH THEN STUTTERS FOOT OF GAS THEN ITS OK BACK AT 30 MPH
I HAVE CHANGED TO A WEBBER CARB NEW FUEL PUMP  & FILTER NEW LEADS PLUGS ALL NEW ???????????????????HELP :dontknow:

How rusty is the fuel filler neck?  Did you clean out the rust/dirt from the fuel tank? Is the paint inside the tank flaking?

I've had all sorts of problems with carbs over the years, the weber is the prefered option so I've heard, but its still no match reliability wise, to injection. To many small parts to go wrong.

does sound like fueling tho, as you have rightly replaced the fuel filter and pump.

Was the weber carb defo jetted correctly for your car before you fitted it?

WEBBER RAN WELL WHEN FITTED BUT NOW NOT GOOD I HAVE JUST BIN TOLD TO CHANGE MY FUEL LINE SO WILL DO THAT KEEP YOU POSTED

NO RUST IN TANK CLEAN BUT FOUND SOME  BITS OF RUBBER GLOVE IN THE TANK (I RAN OUT OF PETROL ONCE THE PLANK TUNEING MY CAR UP PUT PETROL IN OUT OF JIMMY CAN WITH A RUBBER GLOVE ) :evil: I AM GOING TO CHANGE FUEL LINE WILL POST RESULT
