Hi, it's a 1.8, i have had it for app 6 months now, just passed its mot.funk-star said
Look at your fuel filter when running, is there air?
I cleaned out the pick up filter in the tank under the back seat and checked for rust, i have a new filler neck, but there is no rust in the tank.
I am not sure if its a webber carb, but the garage i took it to said they don't think it's the right carb on the car.
I sprayed some carb cleaner and the problem sill persists, it pulls like a 1.3 and not 1.8. have not changed the flange or vacum pipes but i will now. do you think it will solve it or is this a common problem?
Thanks for the advice

If there are then replace all your fuel lines 5.5 or 6mm rubber hose.
If it's still causing issues and air is still in the filter then it's steel fuel pipes.
Or replace the fuel pump and swirl pot.
Had similar issues withmy cab and replaced and fiddled with everything to find the problem being the steel fuel pipes.
You might have a pierburg carb that's stock, or a weber upgrade if your lucky. Is it auto or manual choke?

Look for vacuum leaks first in flange and vacuum piping, do you have both pins for vac piping on servo pipe?
Any pics of engine bay?
I have said this on numerous post but only because the systoms and faults occur evetually on the same engines, so if you can elimnate vac leaks then we can look elsewhere, i.e. Fuel vapour separator, blocked jet in carb, carb filthy etc etc

Pop your bonnet, look for the in line fuel filter. Should be near the cam belt cover. Start the car and look for air bubbles in the filter.

Where u based? if you have weber, on top of air filter box you will have a washer and n hex head bolt, if original carb, you will have a bracket going over the top of air filter box and a rubber piece that covers the hole to access the co screw on the pierburg carb.
