Mk1 Cabby Exhaust Manifold

Evening all,

I have a 1991 mk1 cabriolet 1.8 injection. 98Bhp model I think. Anyway the exhaust manifold is cracked. Do any of you guys know if the manifold from a MK2 Golf or Jetta etc will fit?

Thanks in advance

Biggsy

MK2 no I'm afraid, the downpipe comes out at the wrong spot. you need a MK1/Cabby/scirocco one.  be sure to match the type to what you have, toilet bowl or 6 bolt flange. if you have the toilet bowl type a 6 bolt flange type would be a good upgrade, assuming it uses the same downpipe as the older models (i.e. it doesnt have a cat)

Does fit. I just did it yesterday. Gets rid of silly toilet bowl. Mk 2 to squarish 6 bolt manifold join, to mk 2 downpipe ( flexipipe ).

hmm really?  what engine do you have, and auto or manual?
Is the mk1 LHD or RHD, also what was the manifold/downpipe off of, LHD or RHD MK2?

I ask because I have a RHD MK2 16v manifold on my MK1 16v conversion and it gets in the way of the linkage unless you bend the relay shaft almost flat, and there is no way a std downpipe would fit. Mine has been kinked hard to the driver side to fit past all the gear linkage parts.  Even then it still doesnt clear well, I had to hack out a section of the relay shaft!

MK2 8v downpipe is the same physical shape as a 16v one so its not an 8v/16v difference (8v downpipe bolts to a 16v manifold and vice versa)
