Meter Head??

Hi All

I have a 1992 1.8 Mk1 Clipper and been doing a lot of work on it but she still will not run!! When I purchased it I was told the fuel pump was broken, I have replaced this and the filler neck that was rotten. Therefore i cleaned the tank, lines etc and put new injectors on.
The problem I am having is that the engine will only run if the meterhead is lefted around 10mm and will rev fine! however will not run unless i do this. I have checked for fuel and air leeks and seem to have none. There I purchased a second hand meter head and it is still the same?
All out of ideas has anyone else had these problems?

Cheers
Ned

did you change the whole meter head unit including the air flow sensor, or just the fuel distributor part?

yeah - sounds like the flap is out of adjustment, meaning no fuel distributor block will make a difference.

Might be easier to try and get hold of a complete metering head, including the flap/plate from a car that was running, that try and get yours up and running unless you know someone who knows what they are doing with K-Jet is prepared to spend a few hours on it?

adjust the flap so the round plate is flush with the narrowest point of the bowl at the edge closest to the fuel metering head.

next wait till the engine is stone cold, then pull the 5th injector and point it into a container. disable the coil by pulling the black wires from it and crank the engine over, make sure the 5th injector sprays a nice cone of fuel. if not, check the wiring to the starter motor and the big brown 2 pin sender on the front coolant flange

if all that checks out, then the probably cause is the metering head co and idle adjustment screws are messed up and need adjusting, unfortunately if you cant get the car to start it will take some trial and error till you get it to idle
