Mark 1 GTI Fuelling problem

Afternoon all,

Getting there with my mark 1 GTI, she's still not starting yet though. I appear to have a fuelling problem, I have fuel at the tank end of the fuel distributor, but not coming out of the injectors.

I assumed the distributor was smegged up so I stripped it down, cleaned it all out and out and put it back together again. When I cranked it after it still didn?t get fuel to the injectors, so I sourced another fuel distributor with pipes injectors, etc all attached, connected it up and it still doesn?t get fuel to the injectors…

My next thought was that the fuel pump may be faulty and not putting enough pressure to pump all the way through the systems…?

Anybody got any thoughts… as its starting to drive me mad! (bit bloody cold too!!)

Are you absolutely sure fuel is getting thru to the metering head? Sounds silly but have you changed the fuel filter?

You should definitely check the fuel pipes between the fuel pump and the engine - they may be clogged / rusty / etc...
