Manifold to down pipe clips

anyone found a way to put the manifold to down pipe clips on without special tool, the c springs seem very strong

Yeah, cut a thick, flat piece of metal into a wedge shape and happer in into the C Clip to spread the clip apart.

Well bloody hell !! I've only gone and bought one…….cost ?28 more than the sodding car did as well !!

UPDATE - and the tool is useless, it broke the first time is used it, also discovered i could have bought it from GSF. Not happy.  

Managed to remove clips, but very difficult, also managed to put back on, almost impossible, then head gasket went so purchased tool from toolbiz,made the job easier, but still quite difficult gaining access, GSF do not do the tool, i would recommend buying one if you do not want a lot of grief.
