Manifold and downpipe

In the middle of changing the engine. Removed the old 1.8 engine (carb) and am going to be putting a mk2 GTI engine in, but want to change it back to a carb so all I am doing is putting a lower miles engine in.

The first Q is can you buy the Injector port block offs? Or do they need to be welded up?

Secondly, the exhuast manifold that i took off the older 1.8 is very rotten where it connects to downpipe (rusted where there is an internal spliter). The mk2 engine has the manifold. Basically will the MK2 GTI manifold and downpipes fit in the limited room? I ask because a downpipe for the mk2 is cheaper than the manifold for the mk1.

thanks!

i've seen al sorts of bodges to block injector holes like bolts and chemical metal! or you can just leave the injector in if its a k jet engine, but take the injector out then the injection shroud (use a large allen key) you will see the head is threaded just match the hole with a correct plug and gasket seal them.
manifolds won't fit though.

1p coins worked well for me. Perfect size on a Mk2 head. and the manifolds bolted straight up.

HI 5dr_Beda,

I was wondering if it was you that had a wee bit sport with me about 2 weeks ago. Is your golf a light blue 5dr? I'm pretty sure it was u. I had the mars red GTi (in dire need of TLC - oil of U-lay ordered!!)
It was just a wee sprint along the queensway then same again up to the bankhead r'bout?  8) It was great to see another MK1 in G'rothes, i never seem to see many about.
