large exhaust diameter on small engine?

hi, I've just put a polo gt engine in my golf, and am wondering if the exhaust i have bought will be suitable. I have got a supersprint r series system

this is what ive got so far, still need the centre section

im assuming this is the correct cetre section

will the large diameter be ok for my engine

thanks in advance Ben

Depends what you want from your car

performance = fast, free flowing get the gases out quickly, while scavenging for other gases.

For this you want a straight through system (muff and cats can be included as long as they are straight through ones), and dont impede on the flow, norm a medium pipe is what you want to ensure the gas id flowing quickly, this will drag any exhaust gasesout from other clyinders that havent managed to expel them selfs (they never do fully).

style = big bore, big noise, little power

For this you want big bore, silly chrome or what ever takes your fancy!

economy/neibough friendly = norm OEM system

As above, OEM best.. they did the calculations for best for sound, eco and others!

Mk2 golf (8V GTI)

I am looking for better performance over the oem system, but my car isnt a race car!

would the large bore of this exhaust degrade from the performance?

i cant buy a system off the shelf that is designed for the engine as it wont fit a mk1 golf.

so whats the best compromise?
