k-jet problems

Hi having some metering head problems.:banghead:  When turning the ignition on and the pump primes should the injectors spray a little bit or should the pressure not reach that point until the engine starts to turn over. the car don't run so good and will not rev up any help would be appreciated. The timing is spot on.

thanks

Gary

Without the engine running, the mechanical injectors shouldn't squirt anything and the 5th injector should squirt if the engine is cold.

"The car will not rev up" - when? What are you doing to try and make it rev up? During startng, just after, hot, cold? In neutral? On the road?

Cheers dude. When I start the car and try and rev it it will rev sometimes and it will miss and bang,Like it will not clear . if I get it to idol it idols at around 500 then it will die. took the injectors out and looked at them once the ignition is turned on and the pump primes it squirts the injectors ,have taken the metering head apart and got the plunger moving but is still the same with the injectors squirting once primed. First thought it was the timing that made it run bad but timed it with a timing light and is spot on the vacuum advance is working getting good spark. did take about a gallon of petoly oil out the sump as the injectors were just spraying every time I put the ignition on. just very confused about the whole thing?

Thanks for the speedy response. Hope this made sence  :dontknow:

Have you checked the mixture using a gas analyser? I'd suggest its very rich and you could probably lean it out "by ear", at the momet, though.

the injectors will give a little spray as they prime, this is normal i belive. but they should give a burst then as they come up to pressure it should stop.

the issues you have I would look at the metering head, take the boot off and check the flaps sitting flush with the base of the cone, and that the height setting spring bellow is still being held by the clip and is set correctly - mine has come out of the clip before allowing the spring to hold the base plate too high and causing high idle unless the mix was set very lean.. but ten it wouldnt rev up,.. I soon spotted the problem.

I checked injector spray on my ABF yesterday, no matter what you do the injectors should not spray unless the metering head flap is raised. I have new merc brass injectors and metering head pressure was checked with a genuine VAG pressure gauge ;)

as for your problem scot it sounds liek a fuel delivery issue to me, have you had rusty filler neck problems in the past?

ok how would I go about adjusting it. do I adjust the Allen bolt in the metering head or would I adjust the pressure control duffer on the top of the metering head or is there something else I need to adjust?

Cheers

OK golf bucket k-jet frustration. I recently got a problem again with the injection system.

Injectors are firing again when they shouldn't. 4 new injectors and had the co2 adjusted. they are still spraying. once i open the flap they spray but the second 1 keeps spraying in 6 jet like patterns.. if i close the flap they all give a little spray like there is to much pressure. it has ran really good up until last week when it became a nightmare to start. would red ex fuck the injector seals or do you think i have a metering head problem?

thanks in advance.
