Injector Firing Order

Hello guys.

JUst trying to get my new engine to fire for the first time.

It turns over. I've got a spark and by the smell it's definitely fueling!

I have checked the sparkplug firing order and the timing, these are both good.

I need to check the injector firing order. Does anyone know what the order is from the metering head (a diagram would be useful!!!).

The engine that I have is an 8v from a MK2. WOuld the injector firing pattern be different on this later car???

Let me know and thanks.

No firing order for injectors on a mk1 running K-jet as its a Continous Injection system. In other words all the injectors are always delivering fuel. So it makes no difference in what way yuou connect them to the metering head, but you'll know if you've got em wring as the injectors will be tight on the lines ot get into the head.

Smell of fuel doesn;t alwyas mean it has enough fuel to run, its worth checking to make sure they ain;t just dribbling fuel. Easiest and quickest method is to bridge the fuel pump relay, pull out injector and stick it in a bottle, then lift the metering flap to see if you get a fuel supply. Next thing form hear woudl be to do a fuel flow check to make sure its deliverying the right amount.

When the spark plugs are removed, they are sopping wet in petrol. We think its defintely fueling, the timings right and the spark plugs are in the right firing order.

The only thing that we're not sure on is the air hoses from and around the rocker cover and inlet manifold.

Didnt take a picutre before we took the last engine out so not quite sure how they go back  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Does anyone have a picture of where they goe or at least direct me???

A picture (s) would be good though!!!

Cheers!

once plugs get wet they never tend to be the same as new ones, your best plan is to pull out the fuel pump fuse and crank it over without fuel and then maybe try to get it firing with some easy start.

at least then if it runs for a second you know it'll run. then with the plugs dry try it with the pump fuse in and see what result you get if they are wet again you may need to adjust the metering head if they are wet turn anti clockwise a small amount until you get a result.

be warned you will need to get the metering head set once the car runs !!
