I need help please

Good day to all!

I have a golf MK1 1.8. I have a leak in front. Everyone say that that is a engin leak but i dont think that is that. My petrol just gets less and less
 i think that i could be a petrol leak. Cause i parked my car it as on 1/3 off a tank left the car for the night when i got in the car the next morning it was on empty. i put i R100 and i drove for about 10km and then it shown empty again what could it be please help. The car is smoking alot.

What kind of MPG are you getting when you drive the car?

Is it on Carbs or is it a GTI?

Is there a strong smell of petrol when driving or when the car is stationary?

Is it securely parked overnight?

Is there a lock on the filler cap?

How long have you owned the car?

If a while is this a new problem?

Sorry about the questions but the more info the better the chance of someone finding you a fix.
