i have just fitted a new fuel system 2 my 1990 mk1 gti cab! i was a bit lazy in  doing so and the car has been garaged 4 6 months! i have just fitted the fuel meterin head and having double checked all the hoses 4 leaks i cant seem 2 get the car 2 run! it fires up ok but then just dies on me! just wondering if anyone had any helpful suggestions it wud b much appreciated! cheers!

Why did you need to fit a new fuel system?

common fault supposedly the filler neck was corroded on the inside letting water and rubbish into the tank therefore blocking the hoses and injectors and knackering the fuel meterin head which have all been replaced!

Have you re-adjusted the fuel mixture? Also, I've heard it said that they sometimes need priming. To prime it, loosen off the fuel injector connections and hold the flap up, while the fuel pump is running.
