HELP!recurring recurring nightmare with D reg Clipper - fuel
can any of you shed some light on this problem:
car starts fine, and runs well for about 15 minutes or until a hill/first bit of hard driving whichever is soonest, then starts acting as if no petrol, and stalls.
this car has now had:
BRAND BEW FUEL PUMP (was told fuel pump was knacked)
BRAND NEW WEBBER MANUAL CARB ( was told Peierpont wtf it called auto choke was knacked)
BRAND NEW CARB GASKET etc etc
its STILL doing the same thing i had to take it to the garage to in the first place!
please DONT say "go to a different garage"..
am getting very disheartened to put it politely, and this is my EVERYDAY car for work etc etc so am having bit of a 'mare…
many thanks and Seasons Greets to you all

Same happened to me when i bought my car back in May this year. Had to do loads of work to get it right.
New fuel filler neck.
Cleaned the tank out
New fuel lines.
like you it had me for a while, but till i examined the tank i could`nt belive how much rust and dirt was clocking the pick up in the tank. Just a 2MM peice of rust was enough to block the tube and stop the flow of fuel to the pump. Its all swishing around in there waiting to be sucked up into the pick up of the sender unit.
Funny enough i still have a magnet in the tank.lol
And i think Rich has new necks, and lines.
Hope it helps!

If you do have that, and it's not been replaced then I would put a ?1 on that being a likly cause.
Take the pipe straight from the pump to the carb inlet ( it may overfule ) and see if that helps. If it does then get a new regulator.
Basicaly, what happens is that debris builds up in the regulator, and floats around. This is fine whils fule is not being being used rapidly. As soon as you try hard the fule rushes out the top faster and the debris is swept by the current to the top, where it blocks the outlet and you lose all power. Fule stops flowing, debris fals to the bottom…. Etc etc etc…
Hope that helps..
