Help - haunted MK1 1600 GL

Is this car haunted?

Car starts and goes great but every time I go anywhere it just stops - everything dies. 5 minutes, 10 minutes later starts and goes fine again.

There's no consistency to the fault, it could pack up yards from home or a few miles down the road. Makes no difference if it's raining or dry. Seems to be getting worse.

I've replaced fuel pump, inline filters, all new ignition system, coil, alternator, new inlet manifold etc etc. Car has Weber carb - could this be where problem lies or something else?

Somebosy suggested it could be 'Diaphrame' that's damaged. Anybody no a good place to get carb refurbed or anybody have spare one. Twin 40's and manifold, anything.


Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have you replaced the ignition amplifier or coil ?

yep replaced coil. Not sure what ignition amplifier is.
