has anybody changed a 1.8 clipper to a gti if so HEEELLLPPPP

im in the middle of strippin my 83 gti cabrio out to fit it all to a nicely painted 1.8 clipper shell!!!!!!!!!!!!

however just jumped under the gti today and removed the fuel tank to find its held on by straps???? and  the clipper one was held on by securin plates????

so will the gti strap bound one fit?? if i get new mounts fitted or is there an easier way any help would be spot on

I think the tank itself will fit into place, though I can't remember what the strap mountings look like…
I would have thought that they will go on as I can't see the main shell being any different.
