Genuine mk1 GTI exhausts

Are these still available from anywhere?
 
 my exhaust is sounding awfull at the moment. i'd like a nice quality one, but i dont like the look or sound of aftermarket stainless steel jobbies.
 
 can anyone point me in the direction of a good quality standard exhaust.
 
 obviously when i say good quality i dont mean the tat they sell in gsf. as thats whats on at the moment and it hasnt lasted very long.

Anyone know who the OEM for exhausts was/is? And which manufacturers would be OEM quality and which wouldn't (ie budget)?

In any case, I can't see it being that useful since you'd be somewhat bound by whichever exhaust manufacturer(s) your local exhaust place would have a relationship with. Compared to going to an exhaust fast fit centre, mail order (remember, oversize) + fitting it yourself would be a hassle. (A hassle worth enduring, for a performance system tho).

OEM was Ernst

I got a back box from GSF - good  standard - have a feeling it was Ernst - bought it about 6months ago - sounds fine and doesn't look chavvy!! Replaced the centre box with a part from ECP - again does the business.
