can any 1 tell me what the difference is between a cab gti tank and a cab carbed tank please

the carbed engine is a w reg the gti injection is a b reg
basically what im doin is swapping engines fron the gti to the carbed 1 if that makes senese lol

What chassis number's the B reg, because its kinda around the crossover time. Basically, the 'later' fuel tank was the same for FI and carb, but it was different to the earlier (which were different for FI and carb, but the same as hatchback (and Scirocco Mk1))

cheers m8 is there any way to find out for sure i just dont really want to have to change tanks if i can get away with just putting the pump inline

Well my version of ETKA says chassis numbers beyond 15-E-011 291 have the later tank - but its been wrong on occasions before. Its as good as the dealer would know though. So, what's the chassis number of the B reg?

i dont know off the top of my head m8 ill look tom and post both of them

Can't you simply put the lift pump into your existing tank, and then an external pump too like the later cabbys have?

i havent got a clue m8 thats y im askin lol its all ne to me is there a pump in the tank as well then ??

i have 1 out of a b reg cab m which is the gti i did post chassis number for them both if that helps im so lost with all this wish i had just put another carb lump init lol

This might sound really obvious, but look at the top of the tank, and:

1. check the size of the hole
2. Check the number of terminals on the connection (2 or 4?)
3. If 4, pull out the pump and try it in yours.

ok cheers fella i may have bitten more than i can chew with this 1 lol as im strippin the breg to make a gti out of a w reg which means the whole loom to not lookin forward to that bit lol
