fuel pump power supply ?????

hello could anyone tell me if it is ok to route a 12v power supply from the battery straight to the fuel pump from the battery on a switch ,that i could just flick when i need to start/run the car.

OK? I guess that depends, it is not the most safe thing you could do, but it will work. Just try to remember to switch it off if you happen to have a wreck, not wishing that on you, so as not to make a big fire.

I guess you done an engine conversion?

The correct port for the ignition live to pump is PIN 14 in the Black plug on the fuse panel. It'll work off your key if you have the correct fuel pump relay in position 2.

what engine have you fitted?

thanks for your comments i forgot to mention this is for testing purposes just to get it to run really so i can get it to the autoelectricians down the road .thanks,

the correct fuel pump relay uses a rev counter feed to trigger the pump, its not just an ignition live trigger. That would be just as dangerous as the above in a crash. With a switch or ign live triggered relay if you crash and are knocked unconscious, your pump wont cut out.

I guess its ok to do this as a temp measure to get the car somewhere, just dont crash ;)
