Fuel Pump Location

I've just fitted a 16v engine in my conv and am installing the electrics and fuel pump,
Can I locate the Pump in the Boot or in the Engine bay? or will the mot man not allow it????
what are the rules for it?
thanks

No mot rules that i am aware of but surely not a good idea to have fuel anywhere inside the car.

I don't smoke and it's a convertible!!
The reason is I haven't enough space to fit the pump etc by the fuel tank all together. I would prefer to put it in the engine bay. but I'm not sure if the pump and bits can be that far away from the tank and still work??

Is the fuel pump a standard Bosh one for k-jet, or are you running something else?

You will probably need a lift pump.

I'm using the standard injection from the corrado the engine came from, The corrado fuel pump bits are too large to fit under the car so I was hoping fitting it in the boot or in the engine bay would make life a little easier/cheaper as I already have it!

I bought a new Mk 1 GTi fuel tank and fitted that, then got a lift pump from a scirocco. the bit that goes in the tank. the other bits from the scirocco wouldn't fit under the car as the fuel tank is a different shape and has 2 extra outputs on the side which I recon I'll just blank off as I've no idea what they are for.
I was hoping to spot one on my travels but haven't yet seen one where I can take a sneaky peek underneath!
so the end result is I'm wanting to use the corrado pump in the boot or the enginebay.
