fuel pump connections - gti dx series 2

hi, can anyone help me as i am renewing all my fuel lines, new fuel pump etc and im not sure which terminal on the pump corrospondes to the postive and negative, i have no old pump to refer to as when i bought the car it had been removed. One terminal is slightly thicker thread on the bosch pump so is this the positive? any help appreciated?…
