fuel leak

hi people i love my mk1 but now its leaking fuel everywhere i go its coming from near back drivers side where two pipes look like they go to a pump as looks very rotten does anyone have a clue how much to fix as dont wanna have to get rid because of this will i need new fuel lines and a pump any help would be greatful oh yea its a 83 gti if this helps thanks

Chances are this could be from two areas;

1. Fuel pump
2. Fuel accumulator

Best thing to do is take a photo if you can. If it's the accumulator getting the pipes off can be tricky - with time they almost 'weld' themselves to the accumulator.

Don't panic though - take the photo and go from there. If it's leaking lots of petrol I'd be careful for obvious reasons!

yea its off road for now have to have a look so will need new ones can they still be got? this gonna cost lol

Yeh - you can both fuel pump and accumulator new - try GSF or Euro Car Parts. You could try a 2nd hand one - cheaper but risky in my view.

Check it's not just a pipe that's leaking - may not be as bad as you think. Good luck!

Best bet is get a photo up where the leak is - can advise then
