Frayed nerves

My 1500 Auto LHD Mk1 Golf has a frayed throttle cable. The one that runs from the compensator up to the carb. Does anyone know where I might find one. Apart from VW that is, as I don't fancy losing an arm and a leg!
I really want to know if there's anything else that would the job from another car. Any ideas?

How much to VW want for it like?  They are usually pretty reasonable - indeed cheaper in some cases than ECP/GSF - please tell me you tried your main dealer…
