HELP! I think Ive dropped a clanger
I think I might have dropped a right clanger here and need some help.
Mid part of last year I was buying up bits ready for get the last of the build done on the Golf.
I know what you are going to say to the next bit…..I assumed (as the car was on a 'A' reg plate) that the car was a 1983 car so I bought a Sportex system that was pre 1984. Having then gone through all the paperwork and got the history etc all sorted, on closer inspection the car is a 'C' plate 1985 motor (the 'A' plate was a private reg change back in 1989).
Now…I havent taken the plunge and towed it to my local garage to get in on the ramps to see if it will fit but having offered the middle section up to the car (theoretically) it might go on.
But me being me I would rather consult the oracle and ask:-
1. Will a pre 84 Sportex system fit?
2. If not am I facing buying a brand new system? or can I mod or get a different mid section to match the backbox?
3. If I am facing a new system, what should I go for? only really wanna spend tops £250 on middle and backbox.
4. If the answer to 1. is NO….anybody wanna but a brand new sportex exhaust system off me?
OOOFFFF Help please! :-)
