Exhaust just gone...please advise.

hello everybody.

Well, for the past couple of months my exhaust has had a reocuring problem. The link between my manifold and back box has (sort of like a pringles tube housing a rolling pin) been a problem. Firstly the old a clamp came loose and the exhaust started rattling. So bought a new clamp but i may have done it to tight so the ends of both pipes started rusting and flaking.

So, because of low funds (bloody student) i bought some puty, a ?1.86 exhaust wrap and a round metal thing that holds it all in tightend by a jewbalee clip. This worked a treat until the one and a half hour blast upo the A1 to uni!

Disaster, when i pulled up to my house i heard it blowing again and it's hanging on by a thread!

Naturally i need to replace both pieces! I have read some exhaust threads and some people mention 3 exhaust parts down pipe, centre pipe and back box but i am 99% sure mine is just 2 pieces.

it's a Gti 1.8 8v by the way.

So i have looked at some exhaust and was looking at getting the hottuning manifold. Will a standard back box fit this?

Any suggestions of alternatives will be a great help

Just done some more reading and i think it's a manifold, down pipe and back box.

So i need a down pipe and back box.

Is the hot tuning manifold a manifold and down pipe in one?

Try GSF, not too bad for a full system.
