Different injectors??

Hey all! May have posted in the wrong section before!

Was in the process of getting the engine swapped in my cabby, garage phone up and said the injectors are different and the seals are different!

When I swapped my engine before the injectors swapped straight over, and the engines look identical in everyway apart from the injector holes?

My old injectors and seals are too big to go into the new engine and I'm desperate to get it sorted!

Does anyone know of part numbers or have the correct ones for sale??

Many thanks!

Oops, just remembered, I should list the engine codes but I'm in france 8 hours away from the engines, could possibly get them if really needed!

Sound like a late mk2 Digifiz head to me. Sure these ran the smaller injector and holders than the earlier ones. Not sure if you can swap the injector holders over or not though.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 89 GTI CABRIO WITH DX ENGINE CODE, K JET INJECTION.
I PURCHASED AN EXCHANGE HEAD FROM TSR, BUT MY INJECTORS WERE TOO WIDE TO ENTER THE INSERTS IN THE NEW HEAD…
I TRIED TO FIND SOME INJECTORS TO FIT WITHOUT ANY JOY SO I PHONED TSR PERFORMANCE WHO ASTOUNDED ME WITH THE VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION…..
SOME INJECTORS ARE FITTED WITH 'TOP HATS', A SORT OF WIDER BODIED NOZZLE ON THE TIP OF THE INJECTOR……THIS TOP HAT CAN BE PULLED OFF WITH A SET OF PLIERS, AND LEAVES THE CORRECT WIDTH INJECTOR UNDERNEATH……..THAT FITTED INTO MY NEW HEAD WITHOUT A PROBLEM….
TRY IT…

Which garage is doing your engine…?????
I've had dealings with a couple in Dover and you don't want to know what I think of them…..one 'VW Expert' tried to rip me off and blind me with total bulls muck, and I had a whole tank of fuel drained - onto the garage floor - while a pipe was replaced….!!!! AND I was also told that they could not get injectors to fit …..they had left the large seals IN THE HEAD !!!!!
Needless to say I have not been anywhere near them since….anything serious is done by Volksline in Canterbury - they are aces!!

If you have not already seen it check out the Injector Test

Merc equivalent for standard GTI injectoris….

GSF no. M18710

From a 2.3 190E as I remember. They're brass, so they won't rust like the VW ones do.
 ?21 +VaT…..

..But if the standard ones don't fit sounds like something is not right…
The standard injectors were either plain or with a 'top hat' (later) but both will fit…..the top hat sits in an air shroud…check out the Injector Test link here

Ok, spoke to the guy, here is his reply….

Engine code is DX. I am not sure of the Merc injector part number. I was running a MK2 16V Airflow and warm up regulator with an Audi throttle body and the Merc injectors which are made from copper give more fuel and was told are better. I cannot remember which injector seats I used for the injectors but they do not fit the 8V Golf injector seats. They were from W124 series Mercedes that ran K-Jet - GSF should be able to let you know which ones you need. You really only want to use Merc injectors if you uprate the rest of the fueling - fuel pump, airlow meter, warm up reg and the throttle body otherwise its no point and just a waste of money (they are expensive). I would just put back stock MK1 K-Jet injector seats and the injectors. The injectors are probably hard to push in as the rubbers have hardened over time just put new seals on them and a little WD40 and a nudge and they should go in.

How much effort do you think it will be to change my gti to this lot?

Anyone got ideas of what injectors I need yet? My old ones were too big if that helps!
