Car will not start will only barely run when throttle at max
Engine cranks over fine, but will not start. If I have full throttle and crank, eventually the engine will barely start and run but will not rev up. If the throttle is released then the engine cuts out.
Is the fault more likely to be electrical/timing? or fuel delivery fauult?
When I changed the fuel filter the copper washers leaked on the outlet banjo bolt, so Im pretty sure that there is fuel getting up to the metering unit. I've checked the metal round flap in the air filter housing. ( moves up & down) but reading other forums tonight I hav'nt checked the plunger for movment?
Just to throw another spanner in the works, I fitted a new fuse box last year, and every thing was working good up to the strip down of the engine bay. Now when the ignition is on I have constant power to the reverse light - remove plug A on back of fuse box, power on back of pins constantly. Could this have any affect on the starting/running. I do still have the original fuse box to try.
Any advise on these issues would be much appreciated.
Many thanks Darren (dazbat)

you could make sure visually that the camshaft lobes are in the right position for no.1 cylinder to fire & piston no.1 is in the TDC position by shining a torch down the bore.Turn the engine over manually(with a rachet) a few times to check everything is in sinq
