cant get the level senor cap off (fuel tank)

hello

ok i want to stick a magnet in the tank to get any crap out (if theres any) but am finding it hard to unscrew the cap thats on top of the tank, i tryed by hand and a big screw driver and a hammer but no joy it just chips the plastic, is there a special tool to get it off??
