Air intake hole sucking air?

This hole is sucking air it was taped up does anyone know what it is and what is supposed to be connected to it?

So your car is the same as mine or the other way round?

BTW my MPG guage works fine!

where does the blue pipe go on your car??

it goes to the rear of the inlet manifold by the idle screw?

when I got the car it went nowhere and the only place I could find is there!

I do have a whole hoast of running issues so I won't be too suprised if it's wrong!

if it pluged into the vacum system it should be ok as thats what you dizzy advance works off

like i say i may be wrong

I really need to to sit down with my haynes manual as I still don't understand what this dizzy advance actually is?

All I know is I still have a hesitation/miss that just wont go away..but is not always there

Awesome thanks for the replies ill check this out and have a play, thing is I have 3 holes and only two cables so matbe 1 is just an excess hole then and should not be there? Should i just plug 1 up?

IF YOU HAVE A MPG GAUGE THEN ONE PIPE SHOULD GO THRO THE BULKHEAD TO THE DASH...THE CONNECTOR ON THE T PIECE NEAR TO YOUR DIZZY IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MPG GAUGE AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHT..

are you sure? my mpg guage is not connected to the dizzy, its connected to a t-piece near the inlet manifold.

As far as I know the vacuum for the distributor should go to the back of the throttle valve, the hole you've got that was taped up should be a spout with a blank on it, it's been broken off. Just put some 'Leakfix' in it, the car won't run properly with that hole there.

Many thanks - spent a good hour or so searching the forum and finally found some pics but still alot of research and work to be done!

Yeh you're right it runs wild when not pluged up, thats all sorted now thanks for the help guys!
