1988 Golf GTI Cabriolet

I've just had a new fuel pump fitted in my 1988 Golf GTi cabriolet because there was a very annoying buzzing noise coming from that area. Once the pump was fitted the noise went away for a while but alas it's now come back. Does anyone out there have any idea what this might be.

It may mean the pump could be straining and could be full of rubbish from the tank . A tank flush see The Mk1 Golf Owners Club may help . Noise does not indicate failure , some cheap pumps are noisy , but its a good idea to check the tank .
