16v K Jet issue

After checking my new injectors and the lines to them it would seem that the port for cylinder 1 on my metering head is a bit weak. The old injector gives poor spray on this and the new injector gives very little to none
Got a lend of another MH to test with but its not giving any fuel through the new injectors on lifting the metering head flap but they are weeping with the flap down and even continues for a minute or 2 after the fuel pump is switched off!!!
When i put the old injectors back on i just get a contstant weak spray from the 4 of them as soon as the fuel pump is on which doesnt change regardless of lifting the flap. Again this continues after the pump is switched off.  I even tried adjusting the idle screw but made no difference.
I'm now suspecting a system or control pressure issue. Has anybody got any experience of this?

best to get fuel pressures tested before you do anything else. but tbh, sounds like both metering heads are bust to me

Cheers Johnny, while waiting on the fuel pressure gauge to arrive i done a quick test on the Warm Up Reg and found only 10 volts to it but i suppose typical of Mk1 Wiring, which is poor however more concerning is that i got a reading of .02 for the resistance measurement!!  Haynes reckon it should be between 16 and 22 Ohms.  I'm guessing my WUR is kaput!

yeah id say so, but you should test the pressures initially with the wur plug disconnected anyway and engine off :)

I see both the Haynes and Bentley Manuals describe the system and control pressure tests with the engine running.  Do you know if these can definitely be achieved without it running, just by say bridging the fuel pump relay?  This would suit me very well if so as to say its running a bit lumpy at the moment would be an understatement :(
If so, are they performed as normal otherwise?

An engine can't warm up if the engine isn't running, so you can't check warm control pressure. You can still measure system and cold control pressure though.

Thanks Paul, no that will be fine as the problem i suspect will be evident at cold pressure anyway so that will be good enough.
so everything else as normal then?  Just bridge the fuel pump relay and proceed as documented in the Haynes?

yeah initially you do the system pressure test with engine off and wur disconnected, car wont even run with the lever set to system pressure position. then set it back to control position and start the engine with wur still unplugged to check the warm up then finally the control pressures.  like this:
