zero - ing mile counter

hi people, i was just wondering if any one can help, iam putting a brand new engine into my mk1 but i want to change the counter bk to 0 so i have an accurate reading on the engine, i took the clock out and there are 6 grey cogs which move the counter, but i couldnt get the pin out which goes through them.

can any 1 help with either a easyer way or the way iam doing it????

By the way, its not illegal to alter or zero the mileage on your car, but if you ever want to sell it on, you must tell the prospective buyer first!!!
