Wiring woes

Hey guys I'm having a few wiring problems and im shocking with electrics :)
Right my dipped beam don't work, bulbs ok and they light up when I pull back on indicator stalk. There is no supply coming from the light switch. Trouble is when I pull back the stalk with the light switch in the dipped position the ignition comes on??? Just a note at some point it's had a headlight wiring upgrade but this doesn't seam to be affecting things as there is no supply from switch.
The oil pressure light, well when you turn ignition on it doesn't come on, start engine and the bright oil light comes on and stays on (oil level is ok), when you turn the engine off the oil light turns dull for a split sec until engine stops then goes out.
Thanks In advance
Rich

Sounds like an earthing issue or a possible dead switch?

I've got a new light switch on its way to me so I will try that ASAP
How do I find the problem? There must be a test or something I can do to diagnose it???

I've earthed both oil pressure lights and the wiring works perfectly, could both pressure sensor be duff?

they could be or it is possible that you have a bad contection I would try cleaning all the connections up first.

If you get a haynes manual or the like they will have wiring diagrams in the back (not the best) but you can follow the routing of the wires and check they right through i.e. from supply to the lights.

Yeah first thing I did was clean every connection and spray with wd40

I've got a Haynes manual, however it's the worst piece of **** I have ever seen
