Wiring up a stereo

Which wires go where?

Hi guys,
my last job of the day on the clipper is to wire in my stereo. I have just realised my voltmeter is at work and so in the absence of this bit of kit(and much in the way of electrical ability) would anyone happen to know which coloured wires are for what? The iso connectors have previously been ripped out and excluding the speaker wires I have the following: Thick red, thick brown, thin white/yellow and thin white/blue. There is another thin red wire coming from the hazard switch but this might have been wired up to the alarm before it was removed.Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

My instinct would say that the thick red is live, thick brown is earth, thin blue/white is light+ and thin white/yellow is either an ignition live, or an output for an electric aerial.
But don't quote me on any of that!

The original connector had the following wires
Red - battery live
Brown - Earth
Grey/Blue (x2) - Instrument panel lights.
So your other wires must have been added.

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!

yellow/white is speed signal from clocks, fitted to later cabs and rocco.

grey/blue is illumination, the thin red wire from hazard switch might be accessory live. if the connection ios good then can use it, if its been captain bodgered then remove it. instead get ignition live from one of the spades on the rear of the fusebox, or if you have wire ocd you can take it from the key-in-ignition pin S on the ignition switch. again late cabs have it, if you dont you'll have to get yourself a spade and add it in. coudl chop one out of car in scrappy, this is what i did back before i had loads of spare wire and new terminals ;)
