wiring question??

just startin to rebuild my gti cabrio!!

and ive found a 2 wires in a plastic sleeve one red and one brown the come form the main lighting wiring loom on the left hand side of the engine bay and the cable is easily long enough to reach the other side not 100%sure wot there for??

any ideas??

Is there a connector on the end? If so what does it look like?

yer its a whiteish solid connector (female)

Does your radiator fan work? Have a look at the fan wiring and trace it back from where it plugs into the motor. From memory the wires are brown and red and go into a white connector just behind the NS headlamp, then go into some sleeving. Could be this?

ive got the wiring for my fan already???

the cable goes from the left hand side and will easily reach the right hand side???

 

I've got one connetor on my cabrio clipped under the bonnet and not used, I'll check the colors of the wire for you. Unfortunatly its at my work place under 8 inchs of snow. I'll dig the car out tomorrow 8O

OK, have to have another look at my car over the weekend :roll: Can't remember any other wires offhand.

just to refresh its a thick red and a thick brown and it comes from the main lighting loom near the left hand heand light

as your car got hella lights? also maybe fog lights connection. Check your fog light switch for 3 positions. Off - fog Rear - Fog front. Also as a idea stick a light bulb/ or Multimeter on the conectors and play with lights n stuff. see if you a voltage reading. Also i noticed a while back in my car. inbedded in the front bumper was a Temp sensor. The clipper was added to the car a while back i rekon and came off a newer model. I dont know but the MFA might have had a Temp on one of the functions. Im not really too sure about that tho.my car hasnt got MFA.

Now this may be totally wrong…. but when I rewired my '84 cabby the speaker wirers were red and brown. They reached from left to right as there was a multi plug on the right hand side below the dash just around the door strap area.

Double check that, you never know it might help!!

i think they may be for my washer pump???  seems strange to have such thick wires though!!!

I have unused connectors in my bay. I posted asking why they were there when I first got the car but didn't get a definative answer. My wires are connected to a white female block and appear to be white/ yellow and brown (from memory)… Nothing it playing up so i've left them alone.

Is any thing actually wrong in you bay?
