The plastic clip is the conection to the printed circuit board and it pushed onto the bottem of the cluster…

I knew this woundlnt be a simple answer!
You have a rev counter? yes?…you may also have a speedo…along with a load of other gauges…this is called a intrument panel….!!
And to make this intrument panel work you push in a white clip into the bottem of it, now then…if you look at the clip closly you will know that the pins are labled 1-12 for different colour wires… what i wanna know is what colour wire goes to what number pin..
Thanks in advance low'

For eg, on my Campaign it is a 14-pin plug. On the wiring pic (from memory) a connection would be shown as 1/14, meaning number 1 on the 14 pin plug.
I had seen a link somewhere recently to haynes manual or similar online which would have the info you need - I can't find it now - anyone know?

This is the link you need from Zaks link.
Open the zip file, the last file on the list (79.PDF) is the one you need. scroll to page 5. The right hand side is your instrument cluster with the "Multiconnector" and it's numbered pins at the bottom.
Very handy - I used it to sort my warning lights etc out when I used the after market "Idiot Lights"!
