wipers and heater

wipers and heater and washer squirters dont work on my mk1 gti any ideas? checked all fuses and they are ok and also bought a new heater switch.. the blower bit..

washer and wiper are on the same stalk, so im guessing its not getting a positive feed.

heater blowers can seize, do your lights go dim (do this at night) when you switch to highest power, if so that current is being taken up trying to "charge" the motor for the fan unit. Try spraying a load of wd40 into the fan duct, and turn with a screwdriver on middle speed setting (high power will fling the screwdriver out your hand and low power might not be enough to unbind the motor). If your not getting a drop in light power when turning the heater motor on then id look at the fuse box plug and make sure nothing has burnt out (from having the heater switch on, with a seized motor current has nowere to dissapate - where the energy comes from to make things work so it will heat up the electrical circuit.

I had the same issue with my heater fan. Changed the switch and resistor - still had an issue. When I used to put fan on posn 3, it used to suck loads of voltage. Got a new fan from GSF - works like a dream now!! You can fit these from the engine bay rather thn ahave to take all the dash apart and the fans from GSF are good quality.

on mine the lights are dim, wipers n heater dont work, but if i hold the fogs on they work. was adviced that it may be the fuse box….

hav'nt looked in to any further yet.. all i tired was the lights and checked the battery voltage when turn the heater on etc, and it drop so i am thinking the heater blower it self has seized. going to test the washers and wipers this week prob be a stalk..

have u tired keeping ur lights on with heater then put your fogs on…..???

when i do that the heater n wiper works,
2day i stalled started her upagain and evrthing was working, letaron when i got back to start the lights stayd dim n wiper n heater didnt work so i turn engine off then back on, and evrything was ok….. im gona chek in da mornin see how it is…

but try the fog light thing see if its the same as mine

hi i have a mk1 cab that im having a job getting the heater blowere out is it me or do i have to remove the window wiper mec as there seams no room to get it out.
