Wiper motor fault

hi everyone
i seem to have 12v at 2 pints of the 5 pin plug once moving the stalk is this right as my motor doesn't move? can i upgrade the motor to anything better and faster which will be direct fit?

MK2 or MK3 golf, chop the plug with good length of wire of donor, crimp spades on the wires and push into mk1 plug, done.
