who really knows the mk1 wiring inside out?

i'm having huge problems with my wiring.
i'm in the process of putting a 1.6gti engine into a small tail light gls 1.3
i got a 1.6gli engine loom out of a jetta which is the same as the golf. i got a fuse board from a 1.6gti golf. as all of these are the same type it should have been easy to wire up but i have a few wires to spare and a few other problems.
i have power to the ignition switch and the starter is turning engine over.
here's the first problem;
this relay i have no wires for. what is its purpose and where should the wires go to?

I think that's for the horn, but I'm not 100%.

havent put the horn back into the car yet but would have thought there was to many wires from it for that. if that is for the horn why did it work on the 1.3 when the 1.3 didnt have that relay?

post the relay part number and somebody will look it up for ya ;-)

looks like a fuel pump relay mate, had the same with my polo a few years back

Fuel pump relay is the one with the red fuse on top of it…
