Where does this go? PICS PICS PICS

Right my reverse light doesn't work and when i stripped out my carpets and sound proofing for some weight loss i found this. The bit on the left next to the gear stick. Is it to do with reverse? I know about all the other bits to do i.e. dodgy earths etc.





Any one know? Where does it live?

I'm just thinking out loud, but does your handbrake dash light work?

Whats a handbrake light? Didn't know lights came on if your handbrakes on and your foots not on the brake. Are you sure? i know you did say you were thinking out loud! lol

The dash handbrake warning light I mean.

Oh! I tell you what! You may be right. I can't remember ever noticing one! lol. Do you know how i re-attach one?

I think its your handbrake warning light.Look at the righthand side of your dash and you`ll see a red plastic lens with an exclamation mark on it.
The switch pictured sits at the rear of the handbrake,when you puill it ,it presses the switch and illuminates the red light.

You stole my thunder, Sean!   Yes, you could see if it works from where it is first by pressing the button by hand, with your ignition key turned enough for the dash lights to work. As for the reverse lights…maybe you need a new reverse light switch on the gearbox?

I haven't done one myself, but it looks like they just plug into the gearbox. If you've got a Haynes manual it's in there.  :wink: Hopefully someone with experience can advise more.

yeah its on the gearbox, only thing on there with an electrical connection.

depending on the age of the car it might be a larger multi pin plug for the reverse light swich, this one also works the large mpg/upshift gauge on the dash.

ummmmmm, wouldt that be this by any chance?

have a look around the bay for black/red and black/blue wires, then plug em into it
