What way does the cooling fan turn?

stupid question. just putting back the little bits and bobs after a 16v swap in. the fan works and sucks in warm air from the rad into the engine bay. Is this right?

That's correct, it pulls air in, so cool air is pulled through the rad and exchanges heat to cool the water in the rad.
