VR6 Tach conversion box?

Recently I finished the VR swap in my mk1 and am looking for a tach conversion box to make my OEM series 1 tach work with the VR tach signal
Here in the states we have only one option in the whole country and its a raping high price. $250

Im wondering if there is any product like this available in the UK at a more reasonable cost.

I found that thread and built that over the weekend.
It did not work at all.

try building the same thing as above, but with diodes and a zenner instead of the resistors.

basically same way 1.8t megasquirt on wasted spark rev counter conversions. make sure you fit the diodes the right way round!

edit: actually you might need to do 3 zenners rather than 2, as vr6 coilpack has 3 spark triggers not 2. I think you can instead take the 3 zenners right off the 3 spark trigger wires to coil pins 2, 3 and 4 rather than inside the coilpack as well

ecu pins are 8, 52 and 60. this MIGHT work, not sure if the 6 pot makes it a problem, and if so maybe thats why you do it with the 2 signals rather than 3…
