undoing the starter motor bolts - what bit size?

Hi all, have traced a fault to the starter / starter solenoid - can anyone confirm the size of the bit drive needed to remove the mounting bolts? I've tried T50 torx but it looks like this is too small, however a T55 wont go in! also 8mm allen key is too small

I've already slipped once with a T50 so the bit is slightly rounded in one bolt - i dont want to make it worse by using the wrong bit!

Any help greatly appreciated!

cheers
Chris

From memory it's an allen headed bolt, not a torx.  If you've dounded it get a larger spline tool and hammer it in tight and then undo it.

Just bought two new bolts, it should be a 7mm allen head.  I don't think you get this in a regular set. Just like the 18mm socket is never in a kit.
See my post in" big block injection engines". Just been through all this along with a real disaster, had to cut the heads off so take care. J
