To earth or not to earth

Found this wire behind the head close to the manifold, can't seem to find where it goes, it's a brown and white(possibly yellow) wire and when tested accross earth it seems to already be connected to it.

Any ideas gratefully recieved?

If its brown/white stripe, it usually goes to the rear right corner stud on the rocker cover.

There is usually a plate with a couple of connections the Brn/ White abs an earth braid that goes from the plate to the coil mounting bracket bolt. This helps with earthing the dash Clocks etc.

Ah! That would explain the loss of earth to the dash recently! And why it's earthed already cos I earthed it at the other end. Will attach it anyway, never have too many!
